Timothy D. Brown is President of Timothy D. Brown & Associates, an LLC specializing in Crash Reconstruction, based in the Detroit area serving Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
Sergeant Brown served with the Michigan State Police for 26 years. From 1986-1999 he conducted hundreds of “at-scene” crash investigations before advancing to the elite 8-man Crash Reconstruction Unit of the Michigan State Police, where he shared responsibility for the busy Detroit Metro area until his retirement in 2012. He had direct access to GM, Ford, and Chrysler EDR experts based in his area.
Drawing on his many years of experience as a police crash investigator, Mr. Brown now provides expert services in the areas of collision analysis, Event Data Recorder readout and data analysis, and forensic mapping to clients in the legal, insurance, and commercial fleet industries.
Mr. Brown is ACTAR certified and has been qualified in all levels of court and has testified before the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission, as an expert in his field. He co-authored two peer reviewed SAE papers on the accuracy of the Ford Powertrain Control Module Event Data Recorder in 2010. He is also an adjunct instructor with the Institute of Police Technology and Management/University of North Florida, and has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, and Jamaica teaching Event Data Recorder Use in Traffic Crash Reconstruction to law enforcement and private reconstructionists.
