Lieutenant Frederick S. Ilnicki joined IPTM’s staff as an adjunct instructor in 2004 and has been with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (formerly Indianapolis Police Department) since 1988, currently assigned to the Operations Division, Downtown District. He has been a supervisor in the Hit and Run Unit as well as the IMPD Training Academy. He has also been a past supervisor for the FACT (Fatal Alcohol Crash Team) which is overseen by the Marion County Traffic Safety Partnership.
Additionally, Lieutenant Ilnicki is a certified Instructor through the State of Indiana and ILEA (Indiana Law Enforcement Academy), a certified breath test operator, a certified Evidence Technician, IDACS/NCIS operator, Stop-Sticks Instructor, Field Training Officer, and Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVO) instructor.
Lieutenant Ilnicki has been a certified Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) since 1990 and DRE and SFST instructor since 1991. He is currently the agency coordinator and Central Indiana Regional Coordinator. He has also particiopated in the Marion County Partnership for Dangerous and Impaired Driving and Sobriety Check Points. He has instructed DRE schools throughout the United States and Canada as well as supervised certifications of DRE trainees.
Lieutenant Ilnicki is a graduate of Indiana University and holds a degree in Criminal Justice. He is also a 2010 graduate of the IMPD Leadership Academy.
