James Loftis currently serves with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and holds the rank of Lieutenant. James holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstructionists as well as an ASE certified technician.
Lieutenant Loftis started his law enforcement career in 1997 with the Durant, Oklahoma Police Department. In 2000, he was accepted to the 52nd Oklahoma Highway Patrol Academy. He has held numerous positions with the OHP from traffic trooper, investigator, field supervisor, and now as the Assistant Coordinator of the Traffic Homicide Unit.
James first attended IPTM’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction series in 2002, and has since reconstructed over 200 traffic crashes. He has testified as an expert in numerous state and federal courts within Oklahoma. James teaches all levels of crash investigation and reconstruction for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
