Jeffrey A. Pike is President of Biomechanics Consulting, Inc. and consults primarily in the area of injury causation involving falls, vehicle impacts, and other blunt traumatic injury.
His professional experience includes: Senior Technical Specialist (Occupant Injury/Biomechanics,) Ford Motor Company; Adjunct Professor, Wayne State University, Biomedical Engineering Department; Fellow, Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and consultant to various agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC,) National Academy of Sciences, National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA,) National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) and state and local agencies, including police and/or OAG’s in Illinois, Michigan, New York and Ohio.
His publications include technical papers, book chapters and four books -- Automotive Safety: Anatomy, Injury, Testing, and Regulation; Neck Injury: The Use of X-Rays, CTs, and MRIs to Study Crash-Related Injury Mechanisms; Forensic Biomechanics: Using Medical Records to Study Injury Mechanisms and Neck Injury Biomechanics. His fifth book, Head Injury Biomechanics, is scheduled for publication later this year.
His lecturing experience includes: Course Director for SAE biomechanics and forensics seminars (25 years), invited speaker at conferences in the US, Europe, Asia and Australia and guest lecturer at Medical College of Wisconsin, University of Virginia, MIT and Harvard Medical School.
