Steven M. Schmit is currently a corporal with the Pennsylvania State Police and assigned as a collision reconstruction expert in the department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist Unit. In addition to his primary role as a collision reconstructionist, Steve routinely teaches collision investigation and reconstruction courses for the Pennsylvania State Police and other law enforcement agencies. Steve attained his ACTAR accreditation in 2009. He did his undergraduate degree at Tiffin University in Ohio where he earned a Bachelor of Criminal Justice and is currently a graduate student, completing a Master of Science – Psychology degree from the same university. Steve is a Pennsylvania certified Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic, a Pennsylvania certified Safety Inspection Mechanic, and sits on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association. Having investigated, reconstructed, and prosecuted hundreds of motor vehicle collisions during his career with the Pennsylvania State Police, Steve has been recognized as an expert in the field of collision reconstruction in varying local and state courts and during deposition.
