Andrew Rich is a principal for Rich Consulting LLC, which is based in Fairlawn, Ohio. Rich Consulting provides accident reconstruction consulting services for the legal community and accident reconstruction training for the accident reconstruction community. He has experience testifying as an expert in municipal and superior court in the subjects of accident reconstruction, taking measurements, mechanical engineering and the effects of weather on roadway moisture. Mr. Rich retired after a twenty-five year career in law enforcement. His last fourteen years were spent as a detective for the Bergen County (NJ) Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit. He was also a pilot in the Aviation Unit.
Mr. Rich holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (summa cum laude) from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has been a member of the adjunct faculty for IPTM since 2003, for whom he teaches Applied Physics, Accident Reconstruction Update, Event Data Recorder for Traffic Crash Reconstruction, Advanced Event Data Recorder, Advanced Pedestrian Crash Reconstruction, Post-Crash Forensic Mechanical Inspections and Energy Methods and Damage Analysis. Mr. Rich has crash testing experience through IPTM and the University of Tulsa Crash Reconstruction Research Consortium He is accredited in accident reconstruction by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Crash Reconstruction (ACTAR), and an accredited Automobile Technician by the National Institute for Automotive Excellence (ASE).
Andy Rich is the author of Concepts From Physics and Mathematics Applied to Traffic Crash Reconstruction, and is a coauthor of Balancing Collision Forces for Crush/Energy Analysis. Both titles are published by IPTM. He is also the author/coauthor of many peer-reviewed papers that have been published in various venues, a book about various topics in traffic crash reconstruction, and coauthored a textbook titled Fundamentals of Statistics for Traffic Crash Reconstruction. Mr. Rich lectures regularly at various traffic crash reconstruction conferences throughout the year.
