Larry Williams retired from the Johnson City Police Department (Tennessee) in 2015 after thirty eight and a half years of service. Mr. Williams retired at the rank of Lieutenant and was the commander of the department’s traffic unit for fifteen years until his retirement and was the founder of the department’s first Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team which was formed in 1987.
Mr. Williams has attended numerous IPTM's courses, including Advanced Traffic Accident Investigation, Traffic Crash Reconstruction, Applied Physics for the Crash Reconstructionist, Interview and Interrogations, and DWI Instructor. Also, he has attended additional law enforcement training in Criminal Investigation, Tactical Police Driving, and Law Enforcement Instructor Development presented by the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation Training School.
Mr. Williams is certified by the Tennessee Police Officers Standard Training Commission and Walters State Community College to teach Basic Traffic Accident and Advanced Traffic Accident Investigation; Traffic Accident Reconstruction; DUI Detection, Enforcement, and Field Sobriety Testing; and Tactical Police Pursuit Driving.
Mr. Williams has been an adjunct instructor for IPTM since 1998 teaching the At-Scene Traffic Crash & Traffic Homicide Investigation, Advanced Traffic Crash Investigation and Traffic Crash Reconstruction courses.
