Alfred Danna

IPTM is very pleased to welcome Special Agent Al Danna (retired) to the Institute of Police Technology and Management Adjunct Staff. He is a phenomenal resource in the area of Crimes Against Children who has made it his mission to hone the skills of Law Enforcement Investigators worldwide to aide in the defense of children everywhere in pursuit of justice for crimes committed against them.


Al Danna was the Coordinator of the Crimes Against Children Unit for the Tampa Bay Region of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), where he retired after being in law enforcement for forty-four years. Al Danna was employed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for thirty years where he was assigned to the Violent Crime Squad and a member of the FDLE academy staff. Al Danna continues to be a certified law enforcement instructor with the state of Florida. Prior to being employed by FDLE, Al Danna worked at the Baltimore Police Department for fourteen years as a Uniformed Officer before transferring to Detective where he was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Divisions’ Vice Enforcement Unit and the Sex Crimes Unit.


The last thirty-six years of Al Danna’s career have been spent in the area of Crimes Against Children. He is a nationally recognized expert who has lectured throughout the United States, Canada, Central and South America. His lectures include colleges, universities, Police Academies, Advocacy Centers, as well as National and International Conferences. Al Danna has authored an article in the USA TODAY magazine on child prostitution and a chapter in the Florida Juvenile Handbook that is entitled “Interviewing the Child Molesters”. Al Danna has produced training videos for the first responders to Child Abuse reports and Amber Alerts. Al Danna has also made appearances on Geraldo Rivera’s show, “Geraldo Live”, Court TV’s “Body of Evidence” and Lisa Ling’s “Our America”.


Al Danna is a court qualified expert and has testified for the United States Department of Justice Attorney General’s Commission on Pornography. Al Danna was the Coordinator of the Tampa Bay Child Abduction Team (CART) and was instrumental in its development and implementation statewide. Al Danna served as a member for the Hillsborough County and Pinellas County Multi-Disciplinary Child Death Review Teams, and continues to be a member of the Gundersen National Child Protection Training Center Speakers’ Bureau in St. Paul, Minnesota.
