Glenn Luben

Captain Glenn Luben (retired) began his Law Enforcement career in 1982 when he joined the U.S. Air Force as a Law Enforcement Specialist. During his 4 years of active duty, Captain Luben obtained both Florida Radar and Florida Breath Test Operator certifications. He also attended the Department of Defense (DOD) Traffic Management and Accident Investigation Course at Lackland AFB, TX.

 

In 1986 Captain Luben joined the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (Florida), and was selected as a member of the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) as a Traffic Homicide Investigator and Crash Reconstructionist. Captain Luben served for 26 years, and left the team in 2013 as the Commander of 25 (MAIT) investigators/Crash Reconstructionist, and has been involved with several hundred fatal and life threatening injury traffic crash investigations.

 

During his career with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Captain Luben has worked as a Patrol Deputy, Patrol Supervisor, Criminal Investigations Detective, and Criminal Investigations Supervisor. Captain Luben spent seven years as a supervisor in the Traffic Enforcement Unit, three years as a Supervisor in the Street Crimes Unit, and five years as an Investigator and Commander in the Administrative Investigations Division. Captain Luben served seven years on the SWAT team as an operator and sniper, he also Commanded the approximately 60-member SWAT contingent, which was comprised of 24 SWAT Operators, 15 SWAT Medics, 15 Negotiator Response Team, and 6-member SWAT and Technical response team for the 3 year at the time of his December 2015 retirement. Captain Luben spent his last 3 years as the Commander of the North District Station (NDS) in the Patrol Operations Bureau. NDS had Approximately 150 LEO personnel assigned to the North District Station. Captain Luben is an Event Data Recorder analyst and technician instructor, and has taught other disciplines of traffic crash investigations. 

 

Captain Luben obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in 2001 from Springfield College. He is a US Military veteran of Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, Operation Noble Eagle, and Operation Enduring Freedom. In 2003 he retired as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (E8) from the U.S. Air Force Reserves after serving over 21 years of active and reserve service.

Captain Luben has been an adjunct faculty member with IPTM since 2001.
