This session will concentrate on the federally mandated Electronic Logging Devices (ELD). We will discuss the quality and function of ELD and Automatic On Board Recording Device (AOBRD), how they track a driver's service hours, and the telematics data (ECM and GPS) that often accompanies ELD data. Mr. Skinner will reveal the time and speed variations that have been identified during brake testing when telematics data was compared to the downloaded ECM/EDR data. He’ll share the importance of collecting ECM/EDR data, how it can be used in reconstruction, and why you still need to compare physical evidence with digital evidence before drawing conclusions.
