Kevin "Al" Roop
Assistant Director of Administration
Al Roop came to IPTM in 1999 after 12 years with the South Daytona, Florida Police Department. He joined the Institute staff as a training specialist in the drug and alcohol section and specializes in a variety of traffic safety fields as a DUI Instructor, Speed Measurement Instructor, Breath Test Instructor, and more.
In 2016, Mr. Roop was promoted to Assistant Director of Administration to manage the Institute's overall business operations. Today, he focuses solely on IPTM’s grant section and the Institute’s three dozen grant projects and 15 grant employees. His section includes the Florida Law Enforcement Liaison (LEL) program, Florida’s pedestrian and bicycle safety program, the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Program, statewide occupant protection and impaired driving efforts, and multiple traffic and crash training projects.
Mr. Roop sits on a number of statewide highway safety coalitions and committees. He holds an associate's degree in computer science and a bachelor’s degree in organizational management.
