It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Founding Director, Russell Arend.
Russ was not only the visionary who established IPTM in 1980, but also the leader whose unparalleled wisdom, relentless drive, and unwavering commitment shaped our institute and inspired generations of students, instructors, and staff.
His spirit and vision remain deeply woven into the fabric of IPTM, and we are committed to honoring his memory by continuing the work he was so passionate about.
It was my privilege to work alongside Russ from 1988 until his retirement in 2007. During his leadership, he built IPTM into the largest and most comprehensive law enforcement training institute in the country. I was both humbled and honored to assume the role as Director, and I have worked tirelessly to uphold the legacy of excellence he created for all of us.
Russ’s impact extends far beyond IPTM. His leadership, mentorship, and dedication to advancing law enforcement training have left an enduring mark on our profession and on the countless individuals whose lives and careers he influenced. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to guide and inspire us for years to come.
