IPTM Launches Two New Online Training Courses

The Institute of Police Technology and Management (IPTM) has expanded its online training catalog with two new self-paced courses designed to help law enforcement professionals strengthen critical skills in officer safety, criminal interdiction, and impairment recognition. The new offerings, Tactical Vehicle Approaches: Going Beyond the Traffic Stop and Physiology on Steroids, are now available for registration.
Both courses are delivered in a convenient online format, allowing participants to complete training at their own pace while gaining practical knowledge they can immediately apply in the field.
Tactical Vehicle Approaches: Going Beyond the Traffic Stop
Every vehicle stop presents unique risks and opportunities. Tactical Vehicle Approaches: Going Beyond the Traffic Stop equips officers with practical tactics and proven approaches to safely and effectively manage vehicle stops while enhancing their ability to identify criminal activity and capitalize on investigative opportunities.
Participants will explore pre-stop assessments, vehicle approach techniques, occupant management considerations, criminal activity indicators, and communication strategies that support officer safety and coordination. Whether new to patrol or a seasoned officer, students will gain actionable techniques that can improve situational awareness, vehicle stop performance, and decision-making in dynamic environments.
The eight-hour course is instructed by Joe Kiel and is intended for patrol officers, detectives, Drug Recognition Experts (DREs), supervisors, and other public safety professionals involved in vehicle enforcement or criminal interdiction activities.
Physiology on Steroids
Accurately recognizing impairment requires a strong understanding of how the human body responds to drugs, alcohol, and certain medical conditions. Physiology on Steroids provides a comprehensive look at the physiological processes that influence human performance and behavior during impairment investigations.
Throughout the course, participants examine the body's major systems, including the central and autonomic nervous systems, while learning about neurotransmitters, homeostasis, drug half-lives, and the seven drug categories. Students will also learn how medical conditions can mimic the signs and symptoms of drug or alcohol impairment and how physiological observations can support more accurate evaluations and investigative decisions.
