Expand your knowledge with our pre- and post-conference programs. A FREE ACTAR Preparation course will take place on Sunday, June 25, 2023. The ACTAR exam will be administered on Friday. A limited number of tuition grants for the post-conference training has been made available from the Florida Department of Transportation for Florida Law Enforcement Officers. The FREE 8-hour ACTAR Preparation course, provided by Rich Consulting, LLC, will help the trained reconstructionist pass the ACTAR exam. ACTAR will administer the exam on Friday, June 17. See below for more information.

DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) Instructor Update
This course will update your knowledge in delivering the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) approved DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) training.
The NHTSA/IACP SFST training is revised periodically and DWI instructors must keep up-to-date with the new curriculum changes and standards of the program. This course will deliver this important information and also help to develop your content delivery techniques in the classroom. In addition, we will address recent legal issues pertinent to the crime of impaired driving.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Law Enforcement: Laws, Procedures and Best Practices
Funded by the Florida Department of Transportation, this class is specifically for Florida law enforcement officers. It is designed to help agencies enhance their local pedestrian and bicycle safety efforts and address the high injury and fatality crash problems in their communities.
As part of the class, we will discuss the crash problem and common violations that are contributing to pedestrian and bicyclist deaths and injuries. You will learn the Florida laws governing pedestrian and bicyclist movements as well as the vehicles driving in their proximity. Advanced Marijuana Impaired Driving Detection for Law Enforcement
In this course, we will examine the latest forms of cannabis and provide you with advanced impairment detection cues. We will discuss Florida’s Medicinal Marijuana Law and the information available to you in Florida’s Marijuana Database. We will build upon the topics discussed in IPTM’s Marijuana Impaired Driving Detection for Law Enforcement, including physiology, duration of effects, administration routes and impairment cues.
You will learn about the evolving forms of cannabis, including tinctures, THC-A, vaping, and more potent forms such as dabs. We will examine Florida’s Medicinal Marijuana Law, including specific terminology; discuss how to identify medicinal marijuana and its distributors; and explore the legal impacts on patients and law enforcement. We will discuss advanced cannabis impairment-related driving detection options, including proper administration of SFSTs, modified Rhomberg Balance, Finger-to-Nose and Lack of Convergence tests.
At the conclusion of this course, you will be better prepared to detect drivers that are impaired by cannabis usage as well as investigate, document, and prepare effective cases for prosecution.Topics Include

Florida DRE Recertification Training
As required by the Drug Evaluation Classification Program international standards, every DRE must receive a minimum of 8 hours of recertification training within two years of their most recent certification.
This course will satisfy the 8-hour recertification training requirement for Florida DREs. Topics will focus on dealing with the difficult DRE case as well as medical conditions and eye disorders
We will also provide you with an overview of the medical marijuana law and the most recent DRE policy updates.
